Joseph R. Russell

Joe represents businesses and individuals in a variety of litigation and transactional matters.

On the business side, Joe works with owners on all matters affecting their businees from formation to an eventual sale. He helps clients choose and form the right entity, draft the agreements that govern ownership and operations, and negotiate mergers and acquisitions on both the buy and sell sides. Clients value Joe's practical approach: identifying the issues that matter, explaining them plainly, and keeping transactions moving to closing.

On the personal side, Joe assists individuals and families with their estate planning and probate needs. He drafts wills, trusts, and related documents that protect loved ones and carry out a client's wishes. Joe helps families through the probate and trust administration processes with clarity and care at a difficult time.

Prior to joining Kalil & LaCount, Joe’s practice focused on representing creditors in commercial litigation matters and real estate law. During law school, Joe attended an intensive program at the University of Rome focused on Alternative Dispute Resolution and Negotiating International Business Transactions. He also gained a prestigious externship at the Florence headquarters of GE Oil and Gas where he worked closely with GE's Senior Counsel for Litigation.

Joe lives in Wells, Maine with his wife, two daughters and two rescue dogs. In his spare time, he enjoys playing soccer and golf, and hiking and skiing in the White Mountains.
